Burton Brook Farm

Burton Brook Farm is an 80-acre hobby farm located adjacent to the Hudson Valley, in the Harlem Valley, just east of the Taconic Mountains in New York, and about an hour outside of New York City. Leighann Kowalsky & Zacharias Grob caretake the farm, supporting other artists, such as painters, photographers, dancers writers & sculptors, in their art-making.

Institute for the Study of Somatic Communication

The Institute for the Study of Somatic Communication is a network of CoLab working groups engaging in Somatic Research in a specific methodological approach. The ISSC supports the research, community & practice of somatic embodiment & communication across the globe, in a variety of applications. 

Leighann Kowalsky is the current board chair for this 501(c)3 non-profit.

Dutchess School of Performing Arts

Dutchess School of Performing Arts provides and maintains a truly professional
environment for young people to study multiple dance techniques. Founded in 2013 under the direction of Denyse Looney, Leighann Kowalsky is a current Co-Artistic Director.

Leighann teaches 3 levels of Contemporary Dance and 2 levels of Irish Dance weekly during the school year.





Hudson Valley Dance Map

HV Dance Map is a single source for workshops, classes, events & performances related to dance & movement, in and adjacent to the Hudson Valley region. Leighann Kowalsky is the founder and one of the collaborating members.

Moving Rasa

Moving Rasa is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Harlem, NY. Moving Rasa uses playful, place-based somatic practices to support people of all backgrounds, including Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, and Indigenous communities across ability and age, in transforming their relationship to masculinity, culture, and the body through Southeast Asian-rooted somatic practices.

MR works to cultivate joy, healing, and leadership, to disrupt patterns of harm and create cultures of connection, empowering individuals and groups to reclaim their narratives, reconnect with their bodies, and build stronger, more resilient communities.

Leighann serves in a Development role for the organization, and consults on creative communication and storytelling./
