I have a longstanding relationship with Catherine Messina and her NYC based contemporary dance company Rogue Wave. This winter, I’ve had the opportunity to offer their dancers and choreographers a series that doesn’t exactly have a title - but we sort of referred to it as “Advanced Contemporary Partnering Skills for Choreographing”. It’s a blend of physics / safety stuff from circus acrobatics, but theory and concepts from a Contact Improvisation place. Being that I’m a contemporary dancer and choreographer myself, these two worlds merge in ways that can really add to, inform, and generate new options for contemporary dancers. We had fun!
