This September featured a visit out to San Francisco and Berkeley, CA, alongside my partner in crime, Nita Little, to teach a 5-day intensive (3 days with intermediates, 5 days with advanced) in Contact Improvisation and Score Making. I was concussed coming into the workshop, so finding myself being SO very careful, particularly with big head-leading momentum moments. Delightfully, I found no physical remnants of the concussion, which seemed absolutely outstanding based on how much cognitive issue I was having when it immediately occurred. I hit my head, and was having trouble remember what day it was, what I was doing at any moment, and even where I was. The biggest thing I noticed during the workshop was that I was struggling to remember names - I’m usually VERY GOOD at remembering names! It was a BEAUTIFUL week of dancing, visiting with friends in the Bay Area, and then later heading on to Detroit, MI for the NDEO Annual Conference, where I was a presenter of various orders, notwithstanding as the Chair of the Development Committee as we opened the Living Legacy Endowment Campaign in honor of Sue McGreevy Nichol’s retirement! It’s always such a joy to be on “scholar cation” with dear, dear friends!
